Ratification Vote Update

Ratification Vote Update

Dear Members,
We are very pleased to announce the results of the ratification vote for our Collective Agreement.

98.7% voted in favour of ratifying our new Collective Agreement.   685 voted out of 884 eligible voters.

I would like to thank our members for your ongoing and active support over this lengthy process.  Thanks again to our excellent and hard working negotiating team, Vera Caine, Nursing, Moustapha Fall, SLLC, Travis Martin, Physics and Astronomy, Michelle Miranda, Math and Stats, Jane Morrison, Libraries, Christine O’Bonsawin, History, Bruce Ravelli, Sociology, and Caterina Valeo, Mechanical Engineering, to our exceptional staff, Nathan Todd, Ben Johnson, Amal Vincent, Elise Cote, Sabrina Chang and Faye Lee, and to the members of the Membership Engagement Committee, especially co-chairs Tim Hopper and Amy Verdun.
It is our understanding that the Board of Governors will be voting on ratification sometime this week.  Once they have voted to ratify, we will have a fully ratified agreement.  We will be providing further information soon about when salary increases, including retroactive pay, will be implemented.  We are also working with the admin to clarify when various elements of the Agreement will come into force, and will let you know as soon as possible.
All the very best,
Lynne

Unceded Lək̓ʷəŋən & W̱SÁNEĆ Territories

We acknowledge and respect the Lək̓ʷəŋən speaking peoples on whose traditional territory the university stands and the Songhees, Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.

We acknowledge the devastation that government-created residential schools and Indian hospitals have inflicted on the health and well-being of Indigenous peoples and the ongoing effectics of concentric trauma that continue to this day.
