Research Presentation: Dr. Lisa Kahaleole Hall

Dr. Lisa Kahaleole Hall and Dr. Martin Cannon are being considered for the position of Director of the Indigenous Studies program at the University of Victoria.

The search committee, which includes members from the Humanities, Social Sciences and Indigenous communities, invites you to attend research presentations by each candidate on May 4 and 9, respectively. There will be time for audience questions and attendees will have an opportunity to provide written feedback on the candidate for consideration by the appointment committee.

Note: An open-house meeting for Indigenous students, staff and faculty, as well as any local community members who want to meet the candidate, will be held from 3.30 to 4.30 p.m. at Clearihue Building, D-Wing, Room 132.

Bio: Lisa Kahaleole Hall is the associate professor and Chair of the Women’s and Gender Studies program and the 2011-2016 National Endowment for the Humanities Preceptor in Women’s Studies at Wells College in Aurora, NY. She is interested in the intersections of race, colonialism, and indigeneity with gender and sexuality. Hall is completing two book projects called We Çall Out Their Names: A Genealogy of Theories and ‘Strategies Of Erasure’: Hawai’i as a Site of Conceptual Distortion. She is a visiting scholar at Cornell University’s American Indian and Indigenous Studies Program.
