Student Accommodation Petition – Sign and Share

Dear Members,

As you know, support for student accommodations have been reduced over the past few years, with cuts to CAL hours, pressure to reduce the need for accommodations by introducing Universal Design into one’s courses, reductions in what kinds of exams OREM will support, and VPAC statements that OREM will only be providing this support for one more year.  The reduction in supports has and continues to increase faculty workload, and the threat of further cuts to student accommodation supports are of major concern.

Students are also very concerned about VPAC’s approach to accommodations, as are other unions on campus.  The FA has been working closely with other unions and UVic student groups on this important issue of mutual concern.  We sent a letter to the senior administration in April and received a letter that did not accept any of our requests.  We are therefore launching a petition related to improving accommodation supports at UVic.  We hope you will sign it.
