Workshop for Pre-Tenure & Pre-Continuing Appointment Members:

This workshop may be of particular interest to those who may be considering whether or not to inform your chair/director that you are planning to go up for reappointment, promotion or continuing appointment this year. As you know, the deadline to inform your chair/director is coming up on April 15th. With our COVID agreements with the university, you have more options about when to go up for reappointment/promotion or continuing appointment.

At this workshop, FA President Lynne Marks will be talking about the recent agreements with the university that allow everyone who has been at UVic over the COVID period to delay going up for reappointment, promotion or continuing appointment by one year, and those who can make a case for particularly major COVID impacts can delay for up to two years.

Reuben Kellen, our Membership Services Officer, will speak about the Collective Agreement provisions you should be aware of if you are going up for reappointment, promotion or continuing appointment.

Dr. Barbara Hawkins, former Chair of Biology, and Dr. Ulrich Mueller, current Chair of Psychology, will speak about the kinds of materials you will need to prepare as part of your submission for reappointment, promotion or continuing appointment.

There will also be significant time allotted for you to ask questions of all of our panelists.
