Benefits and Retirement
Your benefit coverage changes once you pass your normal retirement date (which is on June 30th immediately following your 65th birthday). Members who have passed their normal retirement are not eligible for Long-Term Disability (LTD) and basic life insurance will also be reduced to 1X annual salary. Benefit coverage ceases at age 71 regardless of your employment status.
For more information on benefit packages that are available for retired faculty, please visit the University of Victoria Retirees Association.

Benefits While on Leave
During a period of approved leave without salary or compassionate leave without salary, you may continue any or all of University personnel benefits by opting to pay the full amount of the premium or contributions. Benefits continue while on any kind of paid leave.
More information about long-term disability can be found in our Disability FAQs.
